Genuine Junk Band have 2 fine albums for sale on the web and at live concerts.Below are links where you can listen to and purchase them and a description of each. http://www.2cattunes.com http://www.rhapsody.com/genuine-junk-band Railroad St.(Unreleased) Good luck finding this one! Most of the band doesn't even own a copy of this rare first studio work. Recorded in 1999 at Waverly,Ohio's Recording Wokshop, GJB was selected as "guinea pigs" to be recorded by students learning the art of recording from the school. This collection contains all original GJB members including Pike Dempsey-bass and Nate Elam-drums. The bands first experience in a studio may have been their most ambitious, recorded and mixed in only a handfull of nights Railroad St. contains 12 tracks ranging from solo acoustic pieces to extended free form jams and runs the gamut of genre and style. Railroad St. was never sold though as the band simply didn't think it was very good. This Is It This Is It was recorded during the summer of 2006 at 2 Cat Studios in Ashland, KY. The album features 11 tracks produced and mixed entirely by the band with some engineering assistance from 2 Cat owner Gary Kesling and Engineer Alex Frasure. Aside from founding GJB members Mary, Nathan, and Ian, This Is It features Andrew Gillum on drums, Ian Nuckols on bass/backing vocals and saxophone work by Tim Reffit. This Is It is a glimpse into the past of this rare line-up "figuring out the studio" while recording a great mixture of blues, jazz-rock, and funk inspired tunes with a bit of jam thrown in too! Stories From the Hills and Sea GJB's second studio release, Stories From the Hills and Sea is a conceptual collection of "story songs" inspired from the bands travels throughout Kentucky, Virginia, and North Carolina. It was recorded at EarthWork Studios in Newark,OH with engineering and mixing work by studio owner Tom Atha. It has a very "live feel" due to the time and manner it was recorded in, tracked in just 4 days in January 2008 with a few additional days of mixing and minimal "overdubs". It features founding GJB members Mary, Nathan, and Ian with the additional rhythm section of Chris Justice-bass and Dave Knipp-drums. Stories from the Hills and Sea is 12 tracks of lyrical storytelling, exploratory compostions, and a great studio representation of what the band sounded like during the time they first began touring. |
