Man and wife spent half their life trying to make a family
When nothing quite took they wrote them a book filled with stories of the hills and sea
And they dreamt up fields of daffodils, dandelion wine and tea
Sunshine baths and long winding paths that made them both feel at ease

Now in dreams that run wild, a mother and child, look for something fun to do
So they start up a band, and do what they can, to learn ‘em a song or two
Mom plays guitar like a star and screams ‘til she’s red in the face
And son kicks the air without a care and strums the low notes on the bass

Now as the sun goes down and the whiskey’s passed ‘round each tale takes a turn for the worse
Each line loses time, they fall out of rhyme, and stumble on poetic verse
But then out of thin air, it was there, so it must be a blessing not curse
Cause the freedom you find in the moment each night is just something that can’t be rehearsed

(Instrumental)

A friend and lover, that love one another, more than mere words can tell
Can’t be together, unless they will weather, all the fury and fire of hell
And you can’t judge with reason and rhyme, the emotion that’s felt in the heart
So they sail on through waves, in hazardous water, that struggles to tear them apart

A man and his wife, wake up to their life, and can’t believe that it’s real
Once feeling forlorn, a child born receives all of the love that they feel
And they run through fields of daffodils, drink dandelion wine and tea
Bask in the sun and walk down the paths that lead them to the hills and sea.
